FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

1) Where do you live?

​

I live near Vancouver on the beautiful west coast of Canada with my husband, our two adventurous teens, and a fluffy Bichon who is like a miniature version of the cloud dog dragon Lilior in my book series.

​

2) Why did you become a children’s author?

​

From early on, as soon as I could read and write, I have created stories in my head. It has been a passion that has stuck with me through life, but it has taken until now for me to become an author.

​

3) What inspires you?

​

Life itself is an inspiration to me. I try to walk through life with open eyes and an open mind. Books, travelling, movies, conversations with people … everything is connected and the more you know and experience, the more creative you can be. I get lots of ideas for my books when I visit new places or when I’m out in nature. I always have a little notebook with me to jot down some quick texts or illustrations.

4) Where do you work?

​

I have a cozy home office filled with books and a very old writing desk. This is where I spend most of my creative time working on my laptop, assisted by my very opinionated editor, my Bichon Daisy.

5) What inspired you to create the Avina Heart series?

​

Growing up, I lived in my head a lot, where I saw invisible worlds with exciting adventures and mysterious creatures. I loved to draw fun monsters, and there was always a strong super girl who would defeat them by simply painting hearts all over them to make them kind. This is how the character of Avina Heart was born but it took many years until I started writing down her stories. In 2021, I published the first novel of the Avina Heart series and Avina is now inspiring girls across the globe to be leaders, to believe in themselves, and to let their hearts speak.

6) What is the Avina Heart team?

​

During her adventures, Avina Heart transforms evil monsters back into kids who then become part of the Avina Heart Team. They all have different talents, backgrounds, and personalities and help Avina to make the world kinder, by saving one cold heart at a time. Avina’s mischievous brother Felix, her superfairy bodyguard Floretta, and her loyal cloud dog dragon Lilior are also part of her strong team.

7) What do you like to do when you are not writing?

​

When I’m not writing, I love spending time with my family out in nature on long walks admiring trees and rocks. This is when I recharge, connect to my heart, and get inspired. Just like when I was a child, I see the most exciting stories waiting for me in the forest, between the trees.
